Situated in “old Surabaya”‚ this Dutch colonial-style building built in 1862, now become a preserved historical site. Liem Seeng Tee purchased the building in 1932, an immigrant from Fujian – China, who came to Indonesia, seeking for a better life. After years of struggle in Indonesia, Liem Seeng Tee established his company named Sampoerna, which then successfully became one of the leading kretek (tobacco and clove) cigarettes manufacturers in Indonesia. In 2003, the central complex has been painstakingly restored and is now open to public; meanwhile the west side building remains as the official family residence.   House of Sampoerna is only 15 minutes driving from Singgasana Hotel Surabaya. It offers a unique experience for visitors where you can discover the story of the founding family and the development of Sampoerna's business. The Museum’s top attraction is the making of Dji Sam Soe, Indonesia’s most prestigious hand-rolled kretek cigarette, with more than 400 women hand-rolling cigarettes at a speed of more than five cigarettes per minute.   Beside the museum, visitors can also go to the Art Gallery that presents a rotating series of exhibitions representing the works of the finest artists in Indonesia. After a full-day tour, you can buy some souvenirs at The Shop or simply enjoying a wide selection of Western and Asian foods at The Café. Live music performances will accompany your dining experience, on selected evenings. House of Sampoerna is open for public throughout the year, except during the Idul Fitri Holiday. Planning a holiday for the whole family in volves plenty of work. Don't get bogged down in the planning stage all by yourself, have the whole family join in on the fun. Remember that this is a holiday for the family, so everyone's opinions count.   Indonesia is a vast country eith countless options of vacation sports. So first of all,decide with your family what kind of trip this is going to be. it is going to be a nice and relaxing time  spent on the beach, or hiking and cycling on the foothills of a volcano, or a fun daily shopping trip in the market? Once you have your activities picked out, choosing a destination would be easier, if all those activities mentiones above were the objectives, then the island of Bali or Lombok  would be the best option because it offers variety of choices of those three activities.   If the purpose is to experience the underwater biodivercity Indonesia has to offer, then go straight to diving meccas of Indonesia, such as Bunaken National Marine Park in North Sulawesi, Komodo National Park in the water of Flores Island, or Raja Ampat in West Papua. Take advantage of resort around the park or stay on a liveaboard vessel to expand your holiday experience.   For a more cultural trip, option for destional such as Yogjakarta, Solo, Magelang, Semarang and other cities in Central Java. you can hire a car, and do a road trip around the area, experience the colorful batik shop, wayang puppet show, beautiful traditional dance, and maybe pick up one or two beautifully carved wooden statues.   Once  you decide on the destinations, the you can plan on transportation an accomodation, such as airline tickets, hotel room and rental cars, Don't forget to pack your anti-bug spray, swimming needs, hats, and sunscreen.
